photographer Andrew Rankin was guest lecture who spoke on his journey as a photographer.
He mentioned to make the portfolio specific and not include everything. His professional opinion. But I feel as the start of my career, I don't know where I am to specialize and what is my strength.
I feel once I know where my strength lies then I will know how to specialize in one area, but however to begin I feel my portfolio should be the way I have constructed my portfolio and will leave this the way it is until I am more established and reconsider as a photographer.
Maybe if I was a younger student and not a mature age student, this specialized portfolio might be more beneficial to them.
Andrew mentioned having two sites with each of his specialty, with a link linking to each of these. He mentioned to have a blog, to show that you are current with the photography scene.
This idea could be an option, as i can create other sites, on my main portfolio and add the links to the other areas, so when i give my portfolio to certain areas of expertise, i only show them the portfolio which is represented to their area and what they are interested in.
who is going to see your portfolio and what it represents.
squarespace website was recommended $120 annual fee. JCU student discount %50 only 60 for a year.
your work will take you were it wants to go.
but you can create your own destiny
have direction - to show the client you know where you want to go.
social media helps build - have a structure - hootsuit system to combine all the links. Marketing and business.
yes he has a point of only have a website towards a specialized area, as when you send the portfolio to a specific area and you don't want them to look at other work and be uninterested and not bother looking into the specialized area. So I think I will update my portfolio with links to show these specialized areas.
