week three - Journal - nm3001

Notes:

Points to create a portfolio

# Add some music to my portfolio if I can and to my webpages.
# make sure music goes with my images.  Maybe only use a melody/
# pick out the best photos and art work for my portfolio. Not doubling up on similar poses. But chose the best.  I need to go back and double check this.
# Have someone double check this for me, and preferably not family or friends.
# categories my work in appropriate groups.
# Remember what you are trying to achieve form your portfolio.
# don't add old work, only go back a few years maybe 5.

Artist resumes

# do not clutter up your resume with too much clutter.
# add - portfolio on request

Portfolio what to include

# contact info and profile photo
# treat it as a ad or business card
# chose a palette color of dark blue dark green and brown to bring attention
# phone, email, name of studio
# education
# use 10 - 12 point
# list private instructor and course attended

Am I going to make a living from the art I do. Or is it going to be a secondary living.

My goal is to work in the art industry. Either by working in a gallery or creating a small business. My ideal job would be to do both. Having a paid job and  being freelance photographer. This is my ideal goal for next year when I finish this course, Bachelor of New Media Art. ☺Yeah! this is the first time I've really knowen what I would really like to do after study. I am not sure if it is a realistic thoght but this is something I would like to do.

# add work experience to portfolio
# internships
# student exhibitions
# add skills, software you can use,
# references, written resumes on request

Journal due date is Friday 10th October before 3pm

I finally gave my photos I took for a wedding 2 weeks ago to the newly wedded couple. It was such a adrenaline rush while taking the photographs.  I just wish I was better at it. I get half good photos and half not so good. I need to work on my focus, as I feel my composition is pretty good and just my focus isn't so good.  I'd love to buy a new lens for my camera as I only have the kit lenses and a cheap tamron lens. The good lenses are more expensive then the camera body.

I guess when the most expensive wedding that I've captured was only a payment of  200 dollars, I am not going to make it to get that lens. I know once I finish University and make enough money though I will be able  to buy that awesome lens. :-)

Some of the photos from the recent wedding which was captured on 8th August are below.
